nVent HOFFMAN Cooling Unit Maintenance Procedure
Cooling Units play an important role in maintaining the temperature inside electrical enclosures and protecting sensitive electrical components. Regular maintenance helps ensure reliable cooling performance and longer service life.
01. POWER OFF & SAFETY CHECK
- Disconnect power before maintenance.
- Check electrical connections and wiring.
- Look for any abnormal signs or damage.
- Refrigeration service should only be performed by qualified personnel.
02. CHECK & CLEAN THE AIR FILTER
- Inspect the filter regularly.
- Clean or replace the filter when contaminated.
- A dirty filter restricts airflow and reduces cooling performance.
Recommended: inspect every 2 weeks for models following this maintenance schedule.
03. CLEAN THE CONDENSER / HEAT EXCHANGER
- Inspect the heat exchanger for dust and contamination.
- Clean the condenser to maintain proper airflow.
- Check fans and make sure air intake and exhaust paths are not blocked.
- A dirty condenser or restricted airflow can reduce cooling performance.
04. CHECK CONDENSATE DRAINAGE
- Inspect the condensate drain.
- Make sure condensate can drain properly.
- Check for blockage or leakage.
Recommended: inspect every 3 months for applicable models.
05. CHECK TEMPERATURE & PERFORMANCE
After maintenance:
- Power up the unit.
- Check fan operation.
- Check compressor operation.
- Monitor enclosure temperature.
- Check the controller and alarm status.
- Verify that the unit reaches the required setpoint.
06. CHECK THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
If the Cooling Unit is running but does not provide sufficient cooling, check:
- Airflow
- Filter
- Condenser
- Fans
- Enclosure sealing
- Refrigerant charge
Refrigerant inspection, recovery or recharge should be performed by qualified refrigeration professionals.
